Welcome back to #TerpeneTuesday with the Nature’s Care Patient Community!
This week we’re exploring the benefits of α-Bisabolol, also known as Levomenol.
Bisabolol is naturally present in German Chamomile flowers, as well as the bark of the Candeia tree of Brazil, which is the primary global source of this terpene.
While the medicinal use of chamomile goes back thousands of years, bisabolol was only recently isolated from the plant in the twentieth century. Since then, studies have proven it to be an incredibly beneficial compound – especially when used in topicals such as lotions, facial cleansers, sunscreen and even lipstick.
In fact, Bisabolol has been popular in the cosmetics industry for many years because it has long been perceived to have skin healing properties.
