Another week, another #TerpeneTuesday has arrived!
This Tuesday we’re diving right into Cymene, also known as p-Cymene (Para-Cymene).
Said to have a musty aroma reminiscent of carrot and orange, Cymene is commonly found in a variety of herbs such as cumin, thyme, coriander, oregano and eucalyptus.
Looking for pain or anxiety relief? Strains high in Cymene might be the answer –
A study in 2012 found that Cymene significantly increased the amount of time it took for mice to feel pain caused by heat and inflammation.
A 2015 study even went as far as to theorize Cymene can significantly reduce pain and inflammation by regulating the opioid system.
Used in its natural form in low concentrations, Cymene is safe for consumption. However, in high concentrations, Cymene can cause nausea, headaches, agitation and even loss of consciousness.
