This week’s #TerpeneTuesday is cool! Minty fresh cool!
Isopulegol has a decently strong odor that is recognized as minty, cooling and bitter sweet medicinal! 🌿❄️
Commonly found in herbs such mint, parsley, and alfalfa, this terpene is known to have gastroprotective and anti-inflammatory properties and is a useful aid in relieving stress and anxiety.
Not only is Isopulegol a precursor to menthol but it’s often used as a flavouring agent in chewing gum, mints, and many candies.
The most impressive thing about this terpene is its anti-convulsive properties! Studies conducted on animal subjects have shown isopulegol lessens the severity of seizures.
