#TerpeneTuesday is upon us and boy do we have a big one!
We present to you… Limonene!
Strains abundant in Limonene are easy to find! Any strain named around “orange,” “lemon,” “lime,” or “tangerine” are likely to contain Limonene. In addition to the citrus notes that greet you when opening a jar of Tangie or Super Lemon Haze, you might also encounter a slight wisp of peppermint or rosemary.
Can you believe that smell and taste aren’t even the best things about this terpene? Not by a long shot.
After Myrcene, Limonene is the most abundant terpene in most cannabis strains. A 2013 study conducted by the University of Arizona found that Limonene was effective in preventing cancer cell proliferation and reduced tumor size. A later study on the same kind of tumor found similar, positive results. A 2014 study conducted in France stated that Limonene can prevent tumors from invading surrounding healthy tissue by decreasing their ability to create new blood vessels.
Much like Pinene, Limonene works as a powerful anti-inflammatory making it the terpene of choice for those battling arthritis and fibromyalgia. It doesn’t stop there though. Limonene is known to elevate mood, aid in banishing depression, relieves stress, promotes weight loss, libido and treats bronchitis.
Limonene can even help your body dissolve gallstones! It’s true!
Wondering what strains Nature’s Care might carry that has high levels of Limonene in it? Wonder no more – strains such as Durban Poison, Jack Herer, Berry White, Lemon OG are bound to be chocked full of this super terp!
